What is the ultimate goal of Buddhism?

By Victor M Fontane

The ultimate goal of Buddhism is to achieve FREEDOM.

Freedom here should be understood as freedom of mind without being entangled in fear (birth, aging, illness, death), or afraid of power, theocracy, tyranny, moral prejudices and norms.

Freedom of mind is ten thousand times more difficult to achieve than ordinary freedom. Freedom of mind is also the goal of Western European philosophy. Notwithstanding that, while Shakyamuni advises us to go inside to liberate our mind, Western Europe releases it by going outside.

Studying one cell will reveal 3,000 worlds. Studying 3000 worlds will reveal the nature of a cell. How you do it is up to you. But the goal must be FREEDOM OF MIND.
