There is no way to peace - Peace is the way

By Victor M Fontane

In our modern world when we face malice and turbulence, crimes, wars, unstable personal, social and political environment is difficult to comprehend how we can create peace in our family, in our community, our country and ultimately in the world. It all happen because the recycling of collective trauma or the memory of trauma and trauma creates more trauma. The memory of trauma is anger, the desire to get even is hostility and vengeance, feeling guilty about it causes mental distress, shame and humiliation and then the depletion of energy as a consequence of all of these creates finally depression.

But what to do with all that? Ancient wisdom tell us that the solution includes these practices:

  1. Seva or selfless service which if love in action and can be called karma yoga and begin with empathy.

  2. Sangha or engage in a community that has other people seeking the same selfless service and loving action and share peace practices practicing loving kindness as a community.

  3. Simron or following the memory that goes beyond our conditioned separate mind from everything and from the source. In Hindu and yogic philosophy, Simran is the act of profound reflection that leads to awareness of the true nature of the Self.
