Teachings of Maitreya: The Laws of Life Part Two

By Victor M Fontane

Attachment.

If you do not know yourself as the Self, you can become attached to body, mind or spirit. If you are attached to the body, you will find there is no end to material desires and sensual gratifications. Greed grows, the search continues, and satisfaction always eludes you.

This is why Maitreya advises: “Do not be attached to the physical form of a Master. Otherwise, when He is not there, you will grieve. When you know yourself as the Self within, such grief disappears. This is the case of Jesus the Christ, is important not to follow the teacher but his teachings.

Detachment.

When you are detached, the Self experiences these powers and allows the fulfillment of divine purpose. To posses is not only to misuse but to misdirect and to interfere. Practice with detachment and leave the consequences to the Lord.

Experience the self within.

If you follow others instead of being yourself, you lose your parole; you can not reflect the light of individuality. Without that light there is no progress in life. Similarly, when you experience the Self within and come to know you are an immortal entity, completely separate from mind, spirit and body, you learn to use these temples of the Lord creatively, with awareness. Processes of healing follow automatically.

This is why Maitreya has said that even people with AIDS will be healed through prayer and through the practice of honesty of mind, sincerity of spirit and detachment. Without detachment there is no salvation.

Heart to heart.

How to practice sincerity? Consider an expression which is often used: “having a heart to heart talk” with someone. That means you will express yourself as you really are, you will communicate from the center - your center - the Self. Practicing this will transform you and those around you.

The Glory of the Lord.

The Glory of the Lord can never be comprehended by anyone, but it can be experienced. When Jesus experienced the Lord, the Lord immediately taught him one art: to remain detached from the Lord’s glory by becoming the humblest of men. If you become humble, you do not claim anything for yourself.

Do not judge others.

All are trying to understand the truth. For this, mind, spirit and body must be disciplined. Everything the falls into the right perspective. If you say: “My way is right; what others experience is not right,” you create destruction. People experience the Lord in different ways. Do not judge others, judge situations and become aware, but remain detached.

Divinity and blessing.

Divinity does not belong to anyone. It can not be possessed. It must be revered, respected. If you touch it, it will disappear. Blessings can only be experienced. If you try to impose them, they are courses.

The Truth of Divinity.

All religions are undergoing a process of purification, in that individuals experience for the first time the truth of divinity: it is. not outside, but situated in the heart and, simultaneously, in the Universe, in creation everywhere. In this process, the Self experiences its own identity as distinct from all external and internal happenings. That individual Self experiences for the first time that the One who is behind him, who makes him aware, cannot be limited, but is universal. The One is the Guide of the individual Self in its Being and Becoming. His presence is felt everywhere.

Change.

It is the individual alone who can set himself or herself free from this karmic cycle (the cycle of conditioned human activity). Nations and governments are simply guardians, protectors of the values of life, but they cannot change the individual. Change comes from the individual himself.

Equilibrium.

If you look outside all the time you will lose sight of your inner self. Life then becomes too materialistic. If the reverse is the case, and you look inside yourself much of the time, you lose contact with external reality. Equilibrium between inner and outer leads to right relationship developing in the mind, spirit and body. The point of equilibrium must be maintained.
