Imagine two or more people rowing a boat each in the opposite direction, are they going somewhere or are they going to get stuck in the same place? That is human nature and our current condition, to entrench ourselves in our beliefs and behavior. Only when the human being is willing to weigh the ideas and opinions of others in an intelligent and disinterested way, with respect and for the benefit of all and not just a few, will he be able to transcend his limited mind and evolve as a race that seeks reach its maximum expression, potential and spiritual level. Then and only then, by rowing in the same direction, we will reach nirvana. This applies to all human endeavors: politics, religion, society, etc.
