Is the Christian son of God name Jesus?

By Victor M Fontane

Jesus’s name in Hebrew was “Yeshua” so, how did we get the name Jesus and is Christ actually a last name perhaps the most well-known name in the entire world Jesus Christ is the name of the Messiah of the Christian faith?

However, there something unusual about the name Jesus since in the original copies of the Bible his Hebrew name is actually written as Yeshua which more closely aligns to the English name Joshua. So, where did this translation come from?

All is related to the language was the New Testament originally written. As wasn’t written in Hebrew or English but rather in Greek different to the Old Testament that was written originally in Hebrew and Aramic.

But, how Yeshua became translated to Jesus? According to a lexicon compiled in the 19th century by Henry George Liddell, Robert Scott and others Yeshua was translated into Ancient Greek as da Seuss then as Iesus and then spelled in the 16th century as Jesus.

Thus, how ended up with the full name Jesus Christ? As all the characters mentioned in the Bible never had last name, not Jesus Yoshua mother or father, it was named based on his place of birth, Nazaret and the after the Christ was added that means “the Messiah” or “God’s anointed”.

Finally, the question is: since the name of Jesus comes from translations and transliterations, is it correct to pray or worship Jesus?
