Incarnations

By Jose N Garcia - Vedic Astrologer

I have heard many people tell me that this is their last incarnation, that they decreed that it be so or that they are missing a few, but really this matter is not that easy.

First, we have to take into account that we have had an uncountable number of incarnations not only on this planet but on other planets, solar systems, universes and universal cycles as we have already explained before.

Because of this we have an unimaginable number of karmic seeds or vasanas that we have to extinguish before we can stop this wheel. As if this were not enough, we are constantly generating both positive and negative karma, which is why the movement of the wheel does not stop. It is for this reason that all authentic schools teach the importance of purifying or burning those karmic seeds for which there are different methods. Once we have achieved this then we can start talking about not incarnating anymore.

But there is another little problem and this is the self or the ahamkara because as long as it exists we will continue to have desires, attachments, aversions and fear of death as we had written a few days ago.

There are many great yogis of both Tibetan Buddhism and Vedic yoga and practitioners of other authentic schools who can choose how, when and how they will incarnate. For example, the Karmapa, the head of the Kargyud system of Tibetan Buddhism who was the first tulku or conscious incarnate, has sometimes written a letter saying the astrological date, the place and the name of the parents where he is going to incarnate. It is the same case with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other great teachers who bear the title of Rinpoche which means the precious one.
