HOW DOES OUR REALITY ARISE?

By Victor M Fontane

Buddhism teaches that reality is a projection of our own mind, and is not an objective reality that exists outside of us. This is called apparent reality, and it is shaped by our thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Buddha said: “We are what we think. All that is our thoughts. With our thoughts we make the world”.

In order to understand the nature of action, it's necessary to consider what Vedanta calls the three orders reality. Most of the confusion around the topic of doership comes from confusing these levels. These three orders of reality are the absolute, the objective and the subjective. The Vedanta theory of perception is explained by the existence of a universal consciousness in which appears the empirical distinction of subject and object, mediated by a process of knowledge.
