Difference Between Hindu Spiritual Traditions and Buddhism

By Victor M Fontane

Buddhism and Hinduism agree on karma, dharma, moksha and reincarnation. They are different in that Buddhism rejects the priests of Hinduism, the formal rituals, and the caste system. Buddha urged people to seek enlightenment through meditation.

After enlighten, Lord Buddha giving the teachings about the Four Noble Truth and the Three Pitakas (Baskets): Dharma, Tantra and Abidharma, faced difficulties with The Hindu traditions because their rituals, worshiping Dieties, etc. wasn’t actually solving the pain and suffering in humans as happens in other religions. He said that solving the pain and suffering in the world was the main and foremost task and there is no need of praying and worship a God or Dieties.
